Hello from Frisco, TX

Woohoo! I successfully completed my open-water checkout dives this weekend and am now officially PADI Open Water-certified.

My partner and I live in Frisco, TX (DFW). He got his OW certification as a teen in 1989, but he hasn't dived in several years because he didn't have a dive buddy. No excuses anymore!

We are going to Key West at the end of the month and are hoping to find a good newbie-friendly dive company.

I am excited and just wanted to say hi.

You will have no trouble finding a good operator in Key West. I haven't been diving there but it is a fun place to vacation!

Your partner may want to take a refesher course before jumping right back in (just a suggestion) You'll have to keep us updated on your progress. Do you know when exactly ya'll are coming to the Keys? You might want to check out The Florida Conch Divers Forum for some info on the area. We're a pretty active group (when there aren't all these hurricanes around) down here and there's a pretty good chance some of us might be able to hook up and dive with ya'll...

When you rerearch operators, also check Big Pine, as it's not far from Key West. Be sure to tell them you're new, and ensure that they put a Dive Master in the water with you. Not all do.
