Hello. I would have to say "Snorkel."
Required for a couple of P.A.D.I. Certifications......I haven't used one for approximately 18 years.
    Cheers.

Snorkel and buckle in weight pouches. Found at least 3 on the ocean floor and they were a pain in the butt for remove/replace during OW cert.

K01 Hood (Got 1 dive and sold it)
Santi Hood (Never even got in the water)
Neoprene drysuit (Never worn one after OW-class)
Weightbelt (Would always end up around my ribs...)
Jacket west (Tried once - never did it again)
    Force Fins (Oh lord...)
    Whites Fusion Drysuit (Absolute hate)

These are just things that only got 0-1 dives... I have plenty things that got put in "hate pile" when I found something that works better.

I've never had a piece of equipment that I hated. I haven't dived with a snorkel for quite a while, but often throw one in my bag to jump in with dolphins or mantas, a good use. I dived with an Air2 for many years, switched to it periodically to make sure my skills were up, always breathed fine, I have always used my butt dump, many BCs also have a shoulder dump. Switched to a 40" primary and a necklaced 2nd, I like it better.

My first set of fins, bought when I was a brand new diver, were Cressi Frogs. As I got more experienced, I decided that I needed newer, sexier fins worthy of my increased skill. I won't mention what I got because it will stir trouble, but as my skill grew even more, I became less enchanted with those new wonders. I went to the bottom of a storage closet and got out those Cressi Frogs again. Hmm. I found a whole lot to like in their simplicity that I had not liked when I did not know what I was doing. I don't have them any more, but I would not hesitate to take them diving today.

I bought my Santi suit online, unable to try anything on. When I tried the hood on, holy smokes was it painful! I felt it was shoving my jaw back into head. I never got into the water with it. I sent it back and asked them to send me something else, and they sent me another Santi hood. It was the same size, but the stitching showed that it was designed differently. This one was usable, but not great. It got better with time. I still have the Santi suit, but I use a Waterproof hood with it. That one is fine.

I liked my first Fusion at first, but the more I used it, the less I liked it. One problem was that it was always springing mysterious leaks that had to be repaired. The suit was constantly in the shop awaiting repairs, so during one year I used a loaner Fusion much more than the original, and I never had a single leak anywhere with the loaner. I complained about it to Dive Right in Scuba, and they told me I must have had a lemon, and they talked Whites into giving me a good deal on a replacement. I was leery, but it was a good deal, so I did it. I finally had enough, though, and I got a different suit. One of my students bought it, though, and he seems happy with it.

I think a problem with the Fusion was that everyone loved the original design with the lycra outer skin, and it got a great reputation for its maneuverability. Then people realized that the lycra was not so hot for tech diving, especially in caves, which led to the Bullet skin. That thing completely removed the advantage of the lycra skin, but it took awhile for people (including me) to realize that all the original hoopla was no longer valid.
