Just did a week of diving where the boat required first the removal of weight belts, followed by bcd and finally fins before climbing up the ladder. Took a moment (and a scolding by my wife) to remember to hold the belt by the non-buckle end!
 
Yea... remind me of this retired Seal (age 75+) who still dives with no BC(just harness). Regardless, a panic diver is no more likely to think about himself wearing a 20lb+ weight belt than that moron who always appear right behind you 12am at night realizing that he has his high beam on...
 
Good points, Mike. I'm glad I've been going to the pool every week and fine-tuning my gear and skills. Yes, it's only 12' of water, but it's deep enough to really hone my skill set, and if anything goes terribly wrong, it's shallow enough to get out and analyze what went wrong and correct it.
