Hi guys, finally I've decided to switch to BP/W set up.
May I know how do you store your SMB and reel.
I will get a small bag to keep shear, whristle, reflector and other small stuff. Well it seems don't have enough place to keep things.

Advice is appreciated.

Andy

Dive Rite & OMS (and probly others) make a two zipper pocket for tables, whistles and other small items(most can be clipped to a small d-ring inside the pocket so they don't get lost while feeling your way for other items)
Accorian type pockets work well for masks and such.
Dive Rite makes a "Quick Draw" pouch for lift bags(works well across bottom of Plate)
I personally clip off my See Sausage smb to one of my D- rings on the harness(actually I dive a Dive Rite Transpac, but same rule applies) My Primary an jump reel start a dive together on a waist clip. When I deploy one ,I move it to a retractor on one of my chest clips(You can't drop it and lose your way then)
I hope this helps you with finding a set-up that works for you.

One of the nice things about the bp/w is it's simplicity. You are not overloaded with a bunch of stuff you do not use on your dive.

For my SMB or lift bag I use 2 loops of bungee tied through holes in my backplate to hold the bag snug. On one backplate the bungee is on the bottom, by my butt. On the other, the holes are wider apart, it's bungeed to the side of the plate. Works good for me. Others use MC Packs or lift bag pouches. If it's a small smb you can clip it off on a D-ring. Keep it snug by threating the snap under a piece of inner-tube or bungee.

My whistle is attached to my wing inflator hose with a zip tie.

SMB and Reel - safety equipment for free ascents in open water + surface attention getter
shears - line cutter, etc
whistle - surface attention getter
reflector - surface attention getter

You should have some sort of line cutter, etc on every dive
You should have a some surface attention getting devices on any ocean dives where you could get left behind or swept away from the boat.

I don't see anything on this list that I wouldn't take on an typical boat trip.

I agree with the above if you are going out on a boat.... What worried me was the "other small stuff" part. I used to carry all kinds of stuff I did not need. It was a mess. You can find divers loading up ther pockets with worthless stuff all the time. My BP/W has really cleaned that up.

I carry a knife on every dive. I carry a light on every dive. Otherwise I only bring what I plan to use. But I seldom dive from boats. I am not professing to be an expert on diving, but I cringe when I see someone with a ton of stuff they do not need.

I have added some thigh pockets to my wetsuits. Many others use x-shorts.

Anyone have a good place to get X-Shorts?
