The difference is 5 watts vs 10 watts, if I am not mistaken.

Yes and no. My wife needed to be in Seattle and we got back later than anticipated, so did not make it Saturday or Saturday night dive.

She and I went out Sunday. The light worked well then. Bright enough under water in murky conditions to make itself useful.

More reviews to come. Did not have the chance to see it against a light cannon or others.

Sorry for the delay in response. Wife and I just spent 2 weeks in Bonaire <grins>. We used an UK c8 eLED and a UK c8 eLED Plus. I found I preferred the old (non-plus) version. I am decidedly unimpressed with the plus. It is not brighter than the eLED (why, I don't know). The beam is not as focused and the color is noticeably bluer.

I have sent my c8 eLED plus back to be examined and possibly replaced as I was/am amazed that it did not perform better than its "only 5 watt" older brother the c8 eLED.
I was very disappointed. I was expecting the 10 watt eLED Plus to be noticeably better/brighter but, at least my individual one was not.

Thanks for your follow up.

Actually, there is only about $30 difference between UK HID and eLed Plus. I don't understand why some divers keep comparing eLed and UK HID.. UK HID is a great light in that price range.

The Led light can't beat HID light yet.

Sorry to see that happened, pls keep let us know if you can find out the reason.
The flahslightreviews seems to like the new light and they have some measurements.

Let's see if we can find out the reason.

While the Lexeon V only have green, cyan, blue, and royal blue in color.
Some manufacturers have started to use Lexeon K2 which is 7W and white,
unfortunately, the only dive light available on the market which is using K2 doesn't seem to be well made (output dropped after a short while)

Then name of the light is "Tatical", has anybody mentioned about it yet?

We looked at the UK LED lights, and wound up going with the Nocturnal Lights SLX LED light. Not only is it "bullet-proof" in it's construction, but it has 3 LEDs and takes 6 AA batteries with long burn times, also making it quite light as well. We used rechargeable batteries, and only had to charge them once during the week-long trip...and only did so because we didn't want to run out of juice in the middle of a dive.

Yeah, it's a little more expensive, but the aluminum construction, AA batteries, weight, and great performance make it worth the price to us. We loved it so much, we're getting another one.

DiveMaven:
Yeah, it's a little more expensive.

$320 MSRP isn't a little more... If we add some more $$$, we can have a HID cannister light.

I finally got to use my C8 eLED Plus this weekend, and I have to say it did a great job. It was really handy having the 2 brightness settings, in some areas another dive would kick up some sediment and the 10-watt mode would just have so much back scatter you couldn't see (like in fog with highbeams), the 5-watt did a better job of not blinding me with the back scatter.

In comparison to other lights, there was an incandesant Princetontec light (c8 equiv), a UK C8 LED, a UK Light Cannon 10W HID, and a Sartek 10W canister.

eLED Plus vs:

Sartek 10W HID canister - Sartek was brighter, but better be for the price difference...but they also had issues with the connector on it a few times.

Princetontec - no comparison, it was so dim and yellow in comparison that the guy using it was heading to the shop to get the eLED Plus this week.

UK C8 LED - it seemed far dimmer than it should be, it is likely the batteries needed replaced...but if they were fresh with that 'brightness', then I would compare it to looking at the moon (non-plus) vs looking at the sun (plus).

UK LightCannon HID - the LC (light cannon) was moderately brighter, but not by an extreme margin...it was definately more blue in color which can make it seem brighter. Would I buy the LC instead? I don't think so, the durability of the eLED with a very good light output is enough to use it as my primary. When I go HID I will go canister.

Hope this helps anyone that is looking. Instead of buying the UK rechargeable kit, I ordered 8 x 6000mAh C batteries and a charger for the same price, or less. During my test, I gave up after ~6-hours of burn time. I figure I can now pickup just the batteries for my spare light, and I can use the charger for the batteries for strobes and flashes.

Hey guys,

We have recently dropped the price of the SLXs to $260 to be more competitive, and scuba board members will be able to get a small discount (see my sigature) on top of that. We also have the hand mount available which will allow you to attach the SLX on the back of your hand so you'll be able to keep your hands free all the time. Those of you who already have a SLX can consider getting the hand mount, people who have tested them just loves them because it offers so much flexibility.

I tried out one of the eLEDs at DEMA and it wasn't as bright as our SLX. It was towards the end of the show so there's a possibliity that it was low on batteries. Our battery configuration allows our LEDs to be brighter than most of the LEDs out there, especially those little cluster LEDs which can't really be used as a primary dive light.

As far as the overall brightness our SLX is not as bright as the 10W halogens, but it is "plenty bright", meaning that it's sufficient for most divers. If you want a super bright light you can consider our TL50 or SL50.
