Major Point but you give credit were it's not deserved.

If ANY BC bladder fails, you are going to have problems. Ditchable weights helps in that you may get to keep most of your rig. Or with non-ditchable weight that safety sausage might just be enough to keep your stuff on the surface(just guessing). But then a 22mil bladder aint gonna pop unless you inflate it @ say 50m and use it like an elevator.
Myself I prefer redundancy, remember that funky yellow harness for snorkelers? I believe I will have one for bladder leaks or faceplant prevention while snoozing.

Both. What am I diving? Who am I diving with? Where am I diving? No limits with both.

The BP/wing is designed to float behind you to help keep your body horizontal. If you take the BP/w off and let it float on the surface... it will ALWAYS float with the plate under the wing in the face down position - ALWAYS....

Wow ... my BP/W must be the only rg in the entire world which floats with the plate up and the cylinder down when its floating. I think that I was sold a defective rig. :( Why isn't it floating the way that you say it does?

You're an instructor ... could you teach me how to set up my gear properly so that it will ALWAYS float with the plate under the wing in the face down position - ALWAYS....

I'm still here... no one has proven anything I say wrong... because you can't.

The funny thing with the scientific method is that it is far easier to disprove something than to prove it. One single counter-example can disprove a theory, but even if you have near infinite examples, they can't prove it.

I can and just did disprove one of your points.

Listen... I own BP/W's, Packs/W's, Jacket Styles etc... they all have a place in diving. If someone wants to own a BP/W... all I do is tell them the good and bad... which is also what I do with jackets and everything else I sell. Let the consumer make an educated decision - then assist them in learning how to use what they picked.

If I end up having trouble with BP/W I will remember what you said and worse yet, I will remember trying on that $299 Latitude XLT.

I am actually having a problem with the OW portion of the class requiring me to support tourism on Catalina Island. I want a SCUBA OW Cert not a high priced 2 day vacation. If I could afford a vacation I would go where the water is warm and clear to do this.

No worries Oxy... if you lived here your 2 day cert course would cost you a whopping $95.00 through us... Of course you'd be in a cold quarry wearing a 7mm suit with 5 feet of vis, but you'd save a few bucks!

5ft? i'm impressed:rofl3:
some night divers here called the dive cause vis was only 3ft
3 others figured what the hey, light only shines 3ft and went for it.

I'm gonna keep bouncing between LDS's to try and come up with the most favorable class.
Think I found a round trip type that won't require lodging but it will take longer.
If it ends up costing about the same I guess I will have to suffer and play tourist while not diving.:shakehead:

Hey Oxy, did you get a price for OW from Pacific Wilderness in San Pedro?
