Marvel:
This writing in this series has grown so much throughout the years, the story has grown in complexity, the characters have evolved so well. This is definitely the best one! Kudos to J K Rowling.

-Agree with Laurens- the sheer number of deaths is staggering. This is going to be a difficult read for all the HP fans, especially the younger ones. They are going to need help & support to understand that while this is fiction, the ideals the led the characters to make the choices that led to their deaths are worthy ones.

-Harry's sacrifice- the fear & his conquering of it were very well written.

-The final battle between HP & LV was also very good- the dialog between the two, the attempts to talk LV into repentance & most especially, the wand.

I have to say that I see a lot of the story of Christ, his disciples, & his ministry in this book, especially when Harry went to LV & laid down his life, only to come back from the dead. Same type of allegory as contained in the Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe.
Marvel... I agree with everything above...

It is very difficult to produce a book series like this that could not be indirectly associated with many stories from the Bible, Koran, Torah, or any number of books that deal with good and evil... (A number of Starwars and Dune issues as well)

In the end, I think the root of humanity enables the nature of humanity, and we all hope (in the imperfect world) to be the best we can be for each other. That is what most of us strive for (and... sometimes, we are lucky to get there...)! :14:

Just finished it. My copy has 759 pages. This one has the potential to make a GREAT movie, but also maybe not so good. In making the books fit a movie time frame they've elected to chop so much information that the stories are nowhere near as complete on screen. There's so much in this last book that I see them doing it again.

I think her writing wasn't quite as good in books 3 & 4. Then it really improved in 5 & 6, then carried over to this one.

To be honest, you have 3 chapters for time at Grimmwauld... 5-10 minutes will actually do there... The wedding, and prior... another 5-10... 1/2 hour... and the movie is set up with action... especially beyond those points... Another 1 1/2 hours... I predict 2 hours 40 minutes... start to end...

Finished it.

The battle of Hogwarts is going to be awesome in the movie. It's going to be pretty cool when Mcgonnagal goes on the warpath and starts rallying the troops.

Albus Severus Potter = ASP... kid's going to be a Slytherin, heheh.

Just finished... Wow!!! The Battle of Hogwarts had to be the best read ever...

I got choked up about Dobby, and Harry's march to LV with his departed family was incredible.

I'm in agreement that the Epilogue didn't add much, but it was nice to see Harry finally have a family.

I dunno, several suprising parts...

Hedwig getting whacked seemd kind of unnecessary and pointless.

I was a little suprised that Hagrid didn't manage to get killed... he seemed a likely choice to sacrifice himself fighting with Harry against LV.

Draco didn't have as strong of a part in this book as I would have thought he'd have..

I knew Dumbledore wasn't truly gone... and I was certain after reading the Half-Blood Prince that he had set up his death with Snape.

Couldn't put it down, finished the last 50 or so pages this morning before work...Hubby was home and read it today...just finished...we both really, really enjoyed it.

My copy came on Saturday while I was at work. Limited my self to an hour of reading Satuday night since I had a long day on Sunday with pool classes in AM and work in the afternoon. Got home read for half an hour, had dinner and cleaned dive gear. Then I told myself the big lie - I'll go to be at page 500 - finished it at 12:15 AM. 5:00 AM came early today :)

All I can say is that I feel bad for not trusting Rowling as an author. I was so afraid that lots of the hype/speculation that she would kill off Harry, Ron and Hermione might be true. Happy endings are a wonderful thing:D I was very sad about Dobby and surprised by the truth about Snape - nicely done. I was guessing that the Doe patronis was Ginny's - Snape never even crossed my mind. Can't wait for the movie, although I hope for better than the Order of the Phoenix which I saw last weekend. This was a good month for Potter fans.
