Over weekne, I stopped by Radio shack to complete DIY project, but I decided not to do that.

I was watching 3" fan ($18 plus tax), battery case pack, and connectors. It ended up almost $25 plus tax. As long as LP is selling it at $45, it is better option in my perspective.

I used hangair on an dive expedition so my drysuit would dry quicker because it got too sweaty and it was really nice. $45 vs. $25, I don't take the time to mess with home made dive gear because I am busy.

What kind of dry suit are you using over there?

Underwater Kinetics Purchases HangAir® Product Line

POWAY, CA. (September, 2007) – Underwater Kinetics (a.k.a. UK International) announced today that it has completed its acquisition of HangAir®, Inc.- designers and manufacturers of the HangAir® Drying System. UK’s strategy is to keep the original product name but market it under the Underwater Kinetics brand name.

“Underwater Kinetics already satisfies a premium position with our current injected molded hangars,” said Mike Fattori, Sales Director for the Dive, Outdoor & Government divisions for UK. “For years scuba divers have relied on Underwater Kinetics’ products to hang and dry their wet suits, dry suits, BC's and accessories, ultimately getting them off the floor, allowing them to drip dry, therefore increasing their life span. With the addition of the HangAir® Drying System to our existing product line we see a clear opportunity to expand our current leadership role in the hangar market,” said Fattori.

First launched in September, 2006 at the ASR show, the HangAir® Drying System was designed to address two common needs; to safely dry thick protective clothing, rain suits, wetsuits, drysuits, and turnout gear so they can be used daily, and to eliminate the odor caused by moisture and mildew. By implementing the use of a powerful 120-cubic-feet-per-minute waterproof fan the HangAir® product is capable of thoroughly drying apparel and gear in approximately eight hours (depending upon temperature and humidity levels) as apposed to the usual drying time of 24 - 48 hours if left to drip dry. The HangAir® Drying System has a MSRP of $39.99.

Under the sales marketing strategies of Underwater Kinetics, the HangAir® product line will now be marketed to a broader base of consumers, ranging from water and winter sports enthusiast to industrial professionals, fire-fighters and rescue workers.

The HangAir®, Inc. acquisition, along with the company’s recent transition into the outdoor marketplace will form the cornerstones for Underwater Kinetics’ new strategic business plan.

Thanks for sharing the info.

I can see that why it is on sale in the market. They might get rid of all inventory under their name first before putting the UK name on it.

BTW, where can I find MSRP $39.99 deal? If this MSRP is true, their recent sale is totally misleading because their sale price is more than their MSRP. :no This is an one of the old tactics that jacks up the price and sale it at above an actual MSRP?

I'm guessing the Hangair-branded units will sell for what they sell for, since retailers purchased at the older price level. Now that UK has purchased it and can bring in some economies of scale, the price will drop. Probably not in the next couple of weeks, however.

Update:

Hangair is being sold under UK name at this moment. I hope it comes with UK famous lifetime warranty as well. I just place an order. Let's see how it works...

Both myself and my customers think the Hangair is a great product-and a super gift idea. (you know, for that diver that has "everything"?)

If anybody is interested in making their own version of the Hangair, you might want to consider a bathroom vent fan as they can be cheap, run on 120v (easier to figure out how to power) and typically have a decent CFM. For instance, the Broan model 688 is about 50 CFM and is under $15 at certain home improvement mega-stores.

Personally, I'm making my version of the Hangair out of PVC with holes drilled in the PVC to let air escape at all points on the inside of the wetsuit. I've already made a little bootie drying rack out of PVC that I plan on hooking up to the vent as well.
