So speaking of Haigh? Is anyone going tomorrow....? I need to get some technical skill practice in.... Valve drills, s-drills, sim. deco, etc....

I was going to head up there, but nobody ever responded to say they was going, so I have made plans to go to Mermet instead.

I was real close to going to Haigh this Sunday. The gear was in the truck but I got a last minute call from work... damn I hate being on call.

C'mon!

How often can you do the same quarries?? Boring!

They're good for testing out new equipment and freshly learned skills, but little else, and hardly worth the drive to the remote locations where they sit.

A real test of your skills if you live in the Chi-town area is to get on a charter in Lake Michigan. Plus on most occasions, it's an easier drive.

If you can dive there, you can dive anywhere.

I enjoy diving in the quarry. Even though it is repetative, that does not mean it is bad. I do not mean to be rude, but how much do you dive? Every time I go to the quarry, I always see something new. Just my take on it

This season I did somewhere between 20-30 Lake Michigan dives, a lot in the Milwaukee area and southern wisconsin. Love the wrecks.

The reason for my brash remarks towards the quarry is that so many divers I talk to, all over the place, that's all they want to do, dive the quarry. To me, it's a lot more adventurous on a boat, and closer from our area. But, to each his own, I know...

I like the quarry as well. I don't make a special trip just to dive. But usually after I teach a class some friends (or newly certified divers) and I will get in a few dives.

Don't get me wrong, I love the wrecks in Lake Michigan. I dive the big lake whenever I can. But you got to take a dive when ever you can.

As Uncle Pug says "You gotta stay wet, to stay purdy"

yeah, exactly. I hear you clearly. I would like to dive in the lake, but sometimes, the quarry has good people and great times. Hey, if you, or anyone else, wants to go to the lake or to a quarry, please let me know!

Hey I love the Quarrys all over Haigh,Pearl,on and on! When you cant dive the big pond they will do,also a great place to meet tons of divers with skills of all levels! and for one third the cost of a charter.
Hey a wreck dive on the lake with a few divers is the best, but sometimes gets called due to a bad storm,The quarrys-well you can always dive !if open!
Also you can never practice too much in this sport! change your set up,drop some lead, heck practice to make yourself a good diver! You start screwing around with a set up on a wreck dive look out! also our season is so short in this area. dive as much as you can!
All said Im off to WestPalm Beach and the Florida Keys To tune up my skills and burn some air!,Stay warm!

I had 40 logged dives at Haigh this year and several more that didn't get logged. I have seen the rock crusher about as much as I can stand but I still very much enjoy diving there. I like the lack of pressure to get ready and get in so you can get out and leave. If we want to get in 2 quick dives that is what we do. If we want to make an entire day of it and get in 5 dives, we do that.
