I have yet to dive at Haigh Quarry near Kankakee, IL. Was thinking about going there next Saturday for a couple of dives.

What type of conditions should I expect? Is it usually crowded on the weekends? Anyone else planning on going?

Just went last weekend and it was pretty busy but not bad. I would suggest taking a gallon or two of bug spray. We were on the south dock and got ate alive. The bug spray seemed to be sauce for those bast****.

Water temp was a bit on the chilly side but nothing major unless you go to the 80' platform, then it is a balmy 62. Viz was about 15-20. They also have a web site that gives you most of this info or call and they will tell you. They said that the water temp was 75+ degrees at 15' but everybodies temp said it was more like 70+-.
There is a bit of everything underwater and they have good facilities for everything. Decent price on food and a good selection. One thing that I thought was way too cool was that they had a walkie talkie in a basket on the dock and you could call for a tank pickup and refill. The pickup was $1 more but beat the heck out of carrying it or loading the car.

Any other questions?
