I will, definitely. I still haven't really pushed the thermal limits of my wetsuit, and I want to see if my reg will freeflow. Besides, I've never been there.
Now there's a diver who understands. It should never be about doing it just to do it.
Good reasons to do the deep hole:
1) Test personal limits and expand them.
2) We bought all of the gear needed for the environment, we should put it to use.
3) Most of the things I want to dive on are located between 80 & 130 ft, Quarry dives are a good way to get more comfortable "deeper".
4) Wazee Lake is twice the drive (but well worth it)
Seriously, BDP you are a buddy I'd be comfortable with at any depth.
FWIW, Sunday at Wazee Lake I made it all the way to 130ft! Why did I want to got that deep? Well I know I could get my Deep Diver Speciality with 4 dives deeper than 60 ft. Both places my LDS do training dive (Haigh & Pearl) only go to 80ft. I don't want to get the Deep Specialty (which would rate me to 130ft) with 4 dive to 65ft.
Now this dive doesn't count as one of my Deep Training Dives as there was no instructor & I didn't complete the exact skills needed for the next of my training dives but I did practice Deep Skills. I took down a color slate to observe the changes in color at depths. I used my redundant air source (30cuft pony) and finally I didn't violate any NDLs!
And, those who've dove with me before will notice that I've overcome the full hood issue. Again this was accomplished by pushing against a limitation of mine a little at a time over several months.
