Better not go diving in Europe. The shock might kill you. I see naked men and women on most dive sites... Nobody cares.

Agree. When did diving turn into a fashion show?

On a dive boat people are in close proximity, putting their gear together, shuffling about, etc. Other people are sitting patiently by, waiting for the dive.

Many people don't like having another man's near-nude backside so close to their face during all that activity. I know it's cool in Europe, but in many places that's culturally unacceptable. So unless you're one of those tourist who says "I paid my money, I don't care about what the locals think", you might want to consider the appropriateness of your attire, and whether or not its a good thing to be showing your gluts in public. Just because everyone does it in Europe, doesn't necessarily mean that it's universally accepted.

That's my opinion anyway.

I'm sorry -- I don't see what's wrong with this. Nobody complains about women not wearing board shorts. If women are ok showcasing their butts, so am I.

Is that your butt, comrade?:D

Whoawhoawhoa! This is a family site! :D

I usually wear bike shorts. I can't find an old style swim suit like I used to wear in the 60s that were basically really short pants with no pockets and that internal mesh for support. That would be ideal, but all the swimsuits I see on the market now cover the entire thigh and some drop below the knees. That is too much stuff to stick inside of a wetsuit.

There is a need for this in the SCUBA market. I don't want a Speedo and I don't want board shorts. Isn't there someone who can create something for us SCUBA divers to wear under our wetsuit? I think you could really make some money on this product if it doesn't cost $40 a pair.

I use the UZZI bathing suits, they have a 3" inseam, so very little bunching up in the crotch area, quick drying, and they come in cool diving related colors. They also have a scuba flag embroidery on one of the legs. They also have a drawstring and pockets, and are relatively inexpensive.

I agree on the fashon show thing

Naked??? Shock might not kill me but I could be sick! Some things just should not be revealed in public! I remember the guys I dived with weren't too impressed by the European lady stripping off her wet suit to show she was diving as you call it commando! I don't know if it was all the excess hair or what gravity does to a woman's body but it wasn't a pretty sight!:rofl3:

The next time we saw her was on a dive boat and when she stripped off everyone started talking about skipping the surface interval!

Thanks for a good laugh guys!

Am I strange for wearing a bathing suit under my 7mm wetsuit? How about under a 3mm wetsuit? (Ok it was a little bunched under the 7mm, but not too bad. And it was easy to take of the wetsuit in a public on the beach when I was done.)

What do males typically wear next to their wetsuit -- just a supporter? A supporter and a bathing suit? Nothing?

Thanks for any opinions.

When I was smaller, I used to wear a speedo under wetsuits.

I have NEVER seen anyone on a dive boat going commando under their wetsuit. (not that I have done any kind of actual check) Granted, I have done the majority of my diving in the Carribean where it is too hot to stay in your wetsuit between dives. I have never noticed anyone wearing anything other than a bathing suit (trunks or the occasional **gasp** speedo) under their wetsuit. We have dove in skins,3mm, 5mm and semi-dry suits and have no neoprene rashes in places you don't want to be seen scratching!

Cooler water divers tend to go commando. When I was at the University of Miami, the guys that went commando were generally from the West Coast.
