For those that may be interested:

A GUE DIR Fundamentals class will be held on July 12, 13, and 14th, 2002 in the Lower Michigan/Northern Ohio region (exact locations to be determined at a later date-no further than 2 hours from Detroit). Class will be taught by Andrew Georgitsis, Training Director for GUE, and Michael Kane.

Cost for this class will be $275.00. Participants are responsible for their own hotel, travel, food, and incidentals. You will also need to purchase a DIR Fundamentals book for the class. For those in the Metro Detroit area, these are available at Sea the World Scuba in Farmington Hills. Telephone: 248-478-6400.

Course content, prerequisites, and equipment requirements can be found on the GUE web site: http://www.gue.com/classroom/dir_fundamentals.shtml . Be sure to click on the "DIR Fundamentals Course" link (Adobe reader required).

Although the timing for the class is not final, we expect it to start around late afternoon on Friday, and end mid to late afternoon on Sunday. Pool sessions and lecture Friday evening. Lecture and dives Saturday morning/afternoon, lecture Saturday evening. Lecture and dives Sunday morning/afternoon. Once all of the times and locations are firmed up, we will pass this along to all class participants.

A deposit of $150.00 will be required to hold your position in the class. Final payment will be due on July 1, 2002. Checks should be made out to:

Scot Wernett, C.P.A.
23260 Bush
Southfield, MI 48034

There has been a lot of interest in this class, and the size will be limited. If you are interested, I suggest getting your deposits in early. Positions will be first come, first served.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but how are you connected to these guys?
Darian I think I understand your concern but I don't think that Jack answered it....

He has no pecuniary interest in promoting this class...
He is one of the parties helping to arrainge the event and is wanting to let others know that it is going to happen so they can take advantage of it.

These classes don't come around that often and are not available every where. We have had board members express interest so that is why Jack posted the announcement here.

The way this was posted and the way Jack put it together is really great and thanks UP for the explaination.

Good work guys

Sorry I could not make myself more clear in the earlier post.

Having read Detroit Divers posts here, the closer he is to these guys the better. I think, I will get along with Detroit Diver. He seems safe and reasonable. He has also read my posts and will know my limitations.

Not to mention, if the long term posters here have not chased him away so…

Thanks

Hey! How come you get to go to Florida!!!!!

I start off doing work related stuff (Orlando SANS conference). Then a few day in Deerfield Beach.

Yep, I am a computer security Geek traveling alone. Which reminds me, I wouldn’t mind putting some faces to the names. I hope to be free for dinner anyday, but I can only dive April 8-11th.
