Hi all, I've recently come across this site, what a luck.

I have recently returned from a 5 year long stint of working in Indonesia. We worked and lived 5 minutes from the beach. Water in Indo is a crystal clear cobalt blue and very warm, on average about 29 degrees C. I was based on the island of Sumbawa which lies 8 degrees S of the equator, immediately to the east of Lombok which in turn is east of Bali.

Should anyone intend visiting Indo, please drop me a line should you require any first hand info, I'll gladly help where I can.

Cheers.
Dereck

:icecream1 Hi there Dereck, I just wanted to make you feel welcome, when I joined many people introduced themselves. On Scuba Board, you will find there are many informative divers here. It’s a good place too, for meeting other divers. If you ever want to talk feel free to PM me. I hope you enjoy being on the board. and safe diving. From Matt.

No experience needed and it feels great!

Enjoy the baord and thank you for your kind offer. Are you an ex-patriot from ________?

How did the area you worked fare in the recent quake and tsunami?

Happy New Year,

Dave

Welcome to the board Dereck. I hope you did a lot of diving over there. It sounds like a great place to dive.

Hi Dereck, welcome to Scubaboard! As you can see, this is a great place to spend time when you're not actually diving. Glad you've joined, enjoy!

Welcome to the board!

Hiya there all again. The tsunami that devestated Indonesia occurred in the nothern and western part of Sumatra. Luckily for my old friends and collegues still on Sumbawa they were totally unaffected as Sumbawa lies about 1300 miles away and is protected by Sumatra and Java. Diving off the northern part of Sumbawa is fantastic as very few divers visit the area.
Cheers,
Catch ya all later.

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!
