drbill:This young lady exceeded her certification depth limits for OW by a factor of two, even exceeded the AOW depth limit, and apparently penetrated a wreck as well.
I don't consider this "thinking for herself..." I consider it very foolish and potentially risky behavior that should not be encouraged.
Get your AOW certification WaterDance. Of course even AOW won't qualify you for what you did.

Yours is a widely-held, well-intentioned, sensible opinion that probably helps prevent some injuries to divers who otherwise might dive way beyond their ability.
However, I also respect people who take responsibility for themselves, who make their personal diving decisions based on their own assessment of the risks and on their own assessment of their knowledge and ability, especially if they've had the support and guidance of other experienced divers.
Individual responsibility... gotta love it... no warning labels required.
