Yes, I'm going on my first cruise departing from Tampa, FL on February 19th through 26th aboard the Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas.

I'm looking forward to the cruise. It's pretty much a girls vacation. 6 single women having fun. We invited a bunch of guys, but for some reason, they decided they couldn't handle being around 6 women for a whole week on a cruise :jump3: ...

I'm looking forward to future adventures.

And, headhunter, I take the ribbing really well. I know several Californians and have made my way towards San Diego several times and Hermosa Beach area.

Ya' know, da snow don't arrive in Minneapolis area until October. I have gone swimming numerous times in Nordern Minnesotah in an area called the Boundary Water Canoe Area (BWCA) when it was snowing and we had to break through a thin layer of ice. Dat was lots of fun, ya know. Ya, you betcha, I'd do that again.

Don't know about diving under inches of ice though. I think that may be a little crazy. I'm not even crazy about driving out on the ice for ice fishing! I've been reading a local dive board, www.mnscuba.com and it seems there are some good dive sights involving vehichles with owners that miscalculated the safety of driving out on the ice.

Pam

I guess headhunter is a little on the sensetive side. Being of Swedish and Norwegien descent, I know there are many Scandinavians in your neck of the woods. Sorry if I was out of line with stereotypical scandinavian jargon.

David,

I think you may have mis-read my original post (it's right after your first post).

I'm not at all on the sensitive side , but wanted to make sure that my Fargo (the movie) impression didn't offend anyone. Apparantly, Pam is well suited to a little ribbing and has thick enough skin. ;)

My in-laws are all Swedish and Norwegian and joke with them about their accent all the time. It's a two way street of course! :D

It's all in fun!

Christian

No worries mate, oops there I go thinking like an Australian. Just wasn't sure about the whimpy Californian comment. And yes Pam does the "fargo" thing the best. I have never been to Minnesota, but it is the "state of 1,000 lakes" I believe, must be some good freshwater diving.
Lo siento, tal vezes no pienso mui bien.

No problem!

Actually, "I" was the whimpy Californian I was referring to. :crafty:

No te preocupes. Segimos amigos!

welcome to scuba!! if your coming up north to the brainerd lakes area, look us up!! we go over to the mine pits in crosby, the water is very clear and cold. It is worth the trip!! you better hurry, before the lakes freeze next week!!! good luck on your testing!!

PamJScuba:
Hi everyone,

While search and doing some research for my trip in February, I discovered this forum.

I'm not yet certified and begin taking the open water certification in mid-September which is the earliest date that works with my schedule. I'm sure to have fun with the actual open water dive at the end of September. Since we've had a cool summer, the lakes are a few degrees cooler than normal and mid-September should be ;) lots of fun.

Well, I look forward to learning lots and planning future dives, especially in the Caribbean.

Pam
