Any ancient ruins in Egypt will be on land.

That is not entirely true. You can dive ancient ruins out of Alexandria. The city is on the Mediterranean coast rather than the Red Sea and is admittedly not mainstream Egyptian diving, but the opportunity exists for someone with a strong interest.

The most popular dive site in the area in Cleopatra’s Underwater City which is full of sphinx statues and Roman columns. This city, which was built by Alexander the Great in 300BC, collapsed into the sea after an ancient earthquake. Other ancient sites include Lighthouse and Fort Qaitbey.

Oh Wow I didn't expect this much engagement with my posting :D
But thank you for your warm welcome!

Well, my first dives I did in Thailand on Koh Tao over new years 2016/2017, SSI open water and advanced.
Since then I dove in Caribbean / Dominican Republic 2017, Sri Lanka 2019, Egypt 2019 and Thailand again 2023. And now It will be Bali. Tulamben is booked as well as Raya Ampat liveaboard. And I'm open for more recommendations!

@bradlw I'm located in Sweden! I love to be in nature, but haven't managed to go diving here yet. But that's definitely on my to-do list! Did you manage to go diving while you were over here?
I don’t know your travel or living situation but if you primarily are living in Sweden, and want to have a regular frequency of diving, then taking a additional dry suit course and get involved into local diving in Sweden is absolutely a good idea ☺️

@Ballyhoo In Egypt, I've been on a liveaboard with Emperor in Hurghada. It was an interesting experience with lots of marine life, wrecks, my first night dives - and learning that getting a cold might stop you from diving. :D

Välkomna till SB, jag är från Egypt och bor i Tyskland (that’s the limit of my very basic Swedish)

I really enjoyed summer swimming in the islands at the coast of Göteborg — I could imagine diving there if I get to go again

There’s even an overhead dive inside a pyramid (not Egypt) in Sudan if someone wants to mix it up - not sure if it’s open to the public tho
