Just got certified 10 days ago. I am in my late 50s so I figured I had better do this now. I have already spent a ton of $$ on equipment so I am ready to roll. I have received some good equipment advice from the board. I could also use some advice on where to find good and inexpensive diving trips.

you're so close to florida, it'll be hard to beat driving down for three or four days
at a time and just diving . . .

You're talking about 8 hrs drive to spring diving country and about 14 hours to
South Florida's ocean dives.

check out my site for NE Florida spots. also, you can come down to the
Florida Conch Divers forum and post there. you'll get lots of suggestions.

and welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Board - you have found a great sport and great place for information.

Well scubydo, Started in my late fifty's and only regret not doing it sooner. You might want to checkout the site below. I've learned a lot from it and it came in handy a few times.

If you have any questions send me a email. One thing I do when diving is always err on the side of caution.

Dive often and safely.

Getting here could be expensive, but the DIVING is about the cheapest you'll find.

Shore dives are done for the price of an air-fill ($3), boat dives run 35-45 USD for two-tank dives.

It is by far the best diving in the USA (if best means warm water, good vis, lots of reefs and wrecks)

And welcome to SB. :wavey: Put us in your Favorites and check in often.

I'm 50-something, too, and been diving almost 3 years. Starting late is better than never, eh?
