First let me reply to the hum smart Blank!!!! (MB)

I didnt start this to start a fight , I posted my point of view and thats all

Hey medic, I've been called a lot of different stuff, but never a Hum Smart Blank! Thanks for the new material.

Now seriously, you are right - this isn't worth a fight. Not much is really. But like so many other things on the board, if folks don't like a post, they should skip over it. There are way too many people telling way too many others what to do on the board. Unfortunately that extends to busting on the folks who do yeoman's duty working on behalf of the board for nothing but a sense of contribution to the community.

I would suggest easing up, but then I'd just be telling somebody else what to do... Instead, I'll recognize the effort, intent, and positive spirit of the greeters and others who put in time and effort to make this a decent place to be. No fight needed.

I don't care one way or the other about any of that stuff that was said by others, but have you ever tried to use the "New Posts" search feature right after a greeter was doing their thing? It's a page or two of the same greeters canned message that has to be weeded through to find any new ScubaBoard content.

Is there some way that the greeters greetings can be excluded from the "New Posts" search? It would be a value-add to the board if we could once again click on "New Posts" and not have it clogged up with a couple dozen of the same message.

Tiny, one of the features we are expecting (or hoping for) in our next upgrade is a way to block out forums on an opt-in basis.

Hey Tiny,

Until the upgrades that Tech Admin mentions are put into place try the recommendation in this thread which works great:

http://www.scubaboard.com/t63244-james'-handy-dandy-guide-to-avoiding-stuff-you're-not-interested-in.html

In that thread there is even a link to a tool that was created by one of our members that is really helpful.

I think that I have been misunderstood, as I was addressing Tiny's complaint, which I thought would have been pretty obvious, in that I quoted his on the post.

We enjoy you greeting on Intros, and you'll noticed that we direct NC divers to your forum. ;)

Hey Medic13,

I think you may have misunderstood my post.

Tiny was trying to figure out how to avoid the greeter forum posts when using the New Posts feature. The thread that I pointed to shows you how to build a URL that allows you to do a "New Posts" search and exclude any forum that you want to exclude.

My post was simply answering Tiny's post in this thread. I wasn't suggesting that you or anyone else should not greet people. On the contrary, WE WANT more people to greet new members.

You've made some good suggestions here and I don't think anyone is trying to shut you down. We value your input!

Regards.

Christian
