Hi, I got word a great white was spotted at Leo Carillo a week or so ago. Does anybody have any information about this?

They've been seen there before. I haven't dived mainland soCal since 1969 so I've never seen one there.

What kind of information are you looking for? He/she was probably swimming around if they were in the area and that was over a week or so ago....

Dr. Bill,
I think you missed the "nah nah nah" after "..I haven't dived mainland soCal since 1969.." Come on back over and experience 3' viz and yucky red tide....if for no other reason to rejuvenate your appreciation for the great diving you have across the channel!

Heh, heh Otter. Conditions here haven't been that great this year either! 10-20' vis, surge from the south swell, strong currents.

Can I help it if I found paradise 36 years ago and stayed? Of course by now somewhere like Hawaii or the Caribbean sounds mighty good.

1969... I wasn't even born yet :tongue2:

As far as gw's, they've been spotted occasionally off of the socal coast. Didn't an aquarium in the LA area release one a couple months ago?

I know the Monterey one did.. but that's up in Norcal. I didn't know that a SoCal aquarium had one...

MissyP- welcome back. You mean I've been diving Catalina longer than you've been alive? Come on out here and take advantage of my experience. Of course you'll have to wait until after the Fourth since I'll be over on "the Big Island" for the weekend!

Monterey Bay Aquarium released the "little feller" a while back.

Planning on it... remember you're supposed to show me the stars... :eyebrow:

Monterey, thats right... I couldn't remember which aquarium it was..

Yes, a white shark around 13 feet long was seen by the lifeguards at Leo on Sat. the 18th. The only thing I know is they saw it and called everyone out of the water.
