We were thinking about driving to Monterey on Sunday to see the shark and do one dive at the breakwater. We're aquarium members, so we don't have to wait in the ticket line. Seen all the other aquarium stuff many times and hope to get in and out quickly. hahaha....
My crowd concern also includes the Monterey Jazz Fest this weekend. I don't know where the MJF is located. Will it impact the cannery row area? Thanks.

A little Googling finds that the jazz festival is at the
fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds is about five blocks in back of (and the
other side of Hwy 1) Aquarius Del Monte. Shouldn't
impact Cannery Row other than bringing more folks
to town.

The aquarium wasn't too bad today. Course we went into the members entrance at around 1:30. It was about 5 people deep to get to the glass. We were there a total of about 30 minutes to see the Shark.

I just got back from Monterey and I saw the little Great White! Totally awesome (cute actually)!!!!!!! Gorgeous little girl. I was in awe. Leave your camreas at home, you cannot us flash because it upsets her. They are very strict about htis rule and rightfully so. I was blown away she looks great and they said she's been eating!!! Salmon fillets to be exact. That's a great sign. If you have the time you gotta go.

Interesting. I was there on Saturday and people were firing off flashes left and right.

LOL...It was pretty crowded. I was downstairs and an older lady started screaming at the top of her lungs "Stop touching me!" to some random guy with his girlfriend. The woman's daughter came back later to apologize for the, apparently, mentally ill mother.

Made for kind of an interesting afternoon. I'll be back in town next weekend and, hopefully (crosses fingers),the crowds will have died down by then.

We went to take a look today. Left Sacto early and had an easy, but rainy drive. Got to the members door around 9:40am and there was a line waiting to get in. That is the first time I've had to wait in line at the members door. They got us in fast and a nice lady told us to go to the lower window. We did and found it filling fast. Waited our turn to get to the glass and there she was. She was staying at the lower level and made several passes along the glass. People were flashing left and right, nonstop.

We watched for a while, she made a nice slow face to face pass with the window.
You could see straight into her face...all those teeth.

After that we had a nice lunch, went to the breakwater, but didn't dive.
Headed back into the storm on our way home.

Turned out to be a fun trip. Worth the drive.

Here's a link to the Outer Bay Webcam

You might see her pass by if you watch long enough.

Edit: Arggg.. I just checked, they're showing pre-recorded video.

Maybe tomorrow.

Watch out when you click this link. I had my speakers turned up and the music made me jump outta my skin. And this was before I could see anything swim by.

Once you turn down the music, it's pretty cool.
