Looking to dive off of seven mile beach sometime in July. What dive operations would you recommend? I am looking for a professional, knowledgeable, safe dive operation. Will probably be doing 5 days of two tank dives. Any and all comments and suggestions are welcome.

DiveTech, Don Foster's, SunDivers, Deep Blue, Off theWall, Wall to Wall, Neptune and Ambassador are all professional and knowledgable dive ops.

I will repeat what I said in an earlier post about safety. It is the job of a dive operation to transport you safely to a dive site which is appropriate to your apparent level of training and experience. They should avoid sites with significant current ( > 1/2 knot), bad viz ( < 40'), or wave heights which make getting back on the boat a hazard. Most dive ops will also put a DM in the water to act as a guide. If you follow the DM and dive the same profile, you will end the dive within table limits and without getting lost.

ALL OTHER aspects of safety are entirely up to you. A DM is not a lifeguard or even a dive buddy, just a "guide". If you feel you need an experienced buddy at your side, you can hire a DM separately to dive with you. If your skills are rusty or incomplete, I would suggest some pool practice before you come.

thanks for the info, I'll be in gran cayman in july as well.

red sail dive ops is out of our hotel. Also looking at neptune divers. Any info on them. good or bad?

Thanks for the info! I've been busy and almost forgot we are there in June and I had not picked a dive op. We are going to try Neptune's. Their 8 pack boats are more to my tastes. Hope we get some good dives and better pics! I called and booked today. Almost waited too late.

I've used Red Sail and dove the west wall and a wreck. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable and nice. Would use them again

We just got back from GC tonight. Used Neptune's and had some decent dives and appreciated their services. Nice folks, on-time service, dove my air/computer.

Overall, I was pretty dissatisfied with Grand Cayman and do not see myself ever returning. The town rolls up after 5pm almost everywhere and the prices were worse than we had heard. Hotel service at the Ritz Carlton were snobish and rude. The reef environment was fair but not on par with Cozumel post hurricane. If I had the option to do it over, I would go elsewhere.....or two elsewheres for the same price.

PS
Sympathies to anyone who has to go thru Miami, especially on American. My son found it funny their airport code is MIA, I was not laughing.
