My wife had a tendancy to get sea sick, and as a result, our boat diving slowed over the years.
We dove the EE for a week last year with Ocean Frontiers (outstaning op), and while the water was rough, she had been introduced to TripTone, and had zero problems with sickness.

As to spending anothe $100 for a flight to go to Little Cayman or the Brac, I'd prefer to stay in a condo in the EE, which is as quiet as the other two, but gives you the option of more and varied restaurants, and the ability to buy really good food in Savanaugh (sp?) for when we want to cook in.

Was that your instantaneous max temp, to include the suspected hot-spot? What was the average water temp? should be somewhere around 82...

Nope! Most of the dive I had 86. I compared it to my buddy a few times and he read also 85-86 most of time time with a different brand of computer, so water is very warm. The hot water from the spout must have been over 90 for sure. I did not check, kinda dumb on my part! 87 was on the shallow dive on the south side of the island.

^ Indeed. When I was there at the beginning of June all my dives were in the 85-87 range, according to my Cobra3.

85 on both of my dives today off the North wall.

On the second dive at Robert's wall (not to far from Rum point) we saw 2 X massive turtles, one large stingray, at least 20 lobsters (most I have ever seen in one area including one jurassic sized done) and culled 2 Lionfish. Amazing dive :-)

We dove the EE 1st week of April with OceanFrontiers. Amazing, great friendly place. There was a pretty strong North Wind so we stayed well South. Waves maybe 3 ft or so. Water temp at the surface according to my computer was 82. 78 at 40 feet 76 at max depth of 102. I was very comfortable in a full 3mm

No current what so ever.

BT reef shark, some nice eels and lots of Tarpon in the swim throughs.

Going back in November and can't wait.

Water temps typically range from 79 to 87 over the course of a year. By June it is quite normal to have 84-85. This year may be a touch warm, but not by much.

Would it be safe to say that the East End would appeal more to advanced divers?

Not any more. That used to be the case but times have changed. The norm in all areas of Cayman, if not the Caribbean, is 'vacation divers' with experience levels from 'none' to 'a bit'.

That's good to hear. My girlfriend just got certified and we will be diving with Ocean Frontiers from 7/3-7/9. I've been diving for awhile so not much really concerns me but now I have to make sure her first diving trip is a good one. I appreciate all the information about the waves, the possible motion sickness, etc. I soaking all of this information in like a sponge and taking to notes to make sure that I'm prepared for all of this. I knew the East End was the best diving but didn't realize the added complexity of diving there (deep wall dives, high winds, etc).
