This is just too cool...! http://earth.google.com/

I typed in my street address, then an address in Houston, then flew like Superman across Texas. Flew to Key Largo, Paris France, Cork Ireland, back home. Wow.

It drops down to 6500 feet above my house, but I can drop in closer, and go higher for an overview. Click Terrain and Roads both.

I keep flying around going OMG :11:

Seriously, I can see using this to research travel destinations.

So you found it Don! I've been spying on you for weeks!!! :D

If you look real close, you can see Don catching some rays in his back yard, beer in hand, dressed only in speedo, snake-skinned boots and tipped down cowboy hat.

(Just funnin' ya, Don :D)

GE is pretty awsome. I like the touring feature and being able to create your own tour but it really helps if you turn off most of the excess features like roads and google earth community, set your cache to max 2000mb, up your mem cache to 128mb, and fly in slowly to each destination so that all of the perspectives can load.

It's great for finding a dive op. close to a hotel. Just copy and paste the addresses and it will map it and give you distance and time to your distination.

I wish the photo of my place could be upgraded. Appearently it was taken the day we took the cover off of the pool. Our pool isn't always green :D

And the pictures are about 3 years old. At least for my area they are.

I see that some areas were shot in the summer, some adjacent in the winter.

For $20 a year, one can get the upgraded version. It's tempting. :)
