Hi Everyone, in the next several days, I plan to go snorkeling in the area of Sebastian Inlet, FL. I have emailed back & forth the owner of the rights to the 1715 fleet, and if I find anything while snorkeling, I will handle it correctly & legally.

I found a really cool video here on this board of a guy that used a scooter to free dive the ship Duane down in the keys. That is a really cool video & I like the scooter idea too.

I plan to get a sea scooter soon. I have a prescription dive mask w/purge, dry snorkel w/purge (dry snorkel does not allow water inside when you go under water), fins, and weight belt w/weights.

I plan to get a wetsuit in the future also, and a little inflatable boat w/tall pvc pole and dive flag attached to it for good vis by boaters. I plan to snorkel all over Florida any chance I get!! During time off from work.

I freedived alot when I was a kid, 13, 14 years old in Redondo Beach, Calif. Every day during summer and every chance I got year round. I had jet fins, mask and top part of 2 piece wetsuit. This was back in the 70's. The wetsuit had a "duck tail" that went between your legs and fastened in the front!! It also zipped in the front, bottom up to top, neck area, lol...I probably got it from a yard sale!! lol..

I was able to do a breath hold for about 2-1/2 to 3 min and go down as far as 25'. I found out how deep it was from from scuba divers that were there one day. My friends and I would dive for spare change that the tourists threw from the pier. I would earn enough to pay for lunch on the pier.

I did a lot of snorkeling also, at home in Redondo Beach, in the lakes we would go camp at, and in Maui, Hawaii the summer of my 14th year. It was great!

I'm older now!! (47) and am getting back in the water. Doing some small time treasure hunting in less than 10' of water. I look for lost jewelry and anything else I can find. Sometimes we can track down the owner of the jewelry and return it to them. They really appreciate that.

Take care, and ttyl, Safe diving/snorkeling...

You are going to want to snorkel the Blue Heron Bridge ( singer Island/Palm BeaCH).
No treasure likely, but good snorkeling.....if you want really big fish schools rivaling the 60 foot reef, the nearby Palm Beach inlet at high tide can be awesome...but you will need to get the whole story on how to park, where to get in, etc.

Regards,
Dan

I recently purchased a paper back book by Brad Bertelli called "Snorkeling Florida 50 Excellent Sites" and have found it be very informative. He gives great detail as to where to park and where to enter the water. You might find this as a good resource for your future adventures.
