How'd it go? Anyone going to post a summary? How many folks showed up? How many dry suits sold? How was the diving ... viz, water temps?

I couldn't make it due to travel / family commitments, but I sure thought about it several times!

Sorry I didn't get chance to check the board on Friday and get back to you. Did everything work out OK?
I kinda figured I posted to late for you to get back with me. Worked out great, my guys got to try the dry suits and go out with just me. One of them is now properly warped, he is NOT a cold water diver but said he was warmer in his wetsuit on our first dive to 90 feet in 40 degree water than in the drysuit going to 60 feet in the same temperature BWAHAHAHAHAHA! To be fair his Henderson (hyperdry I believe) wetsuit with a 1mm suit under it left him basically completely dry (wet from knees to ankles and wrists to elbows) and the dry suit left him with one wet foot which he said he didn't notice until he got out and it was squishing when he walked (Polly was that a suit one of your people had worn? :eyebrow: ). The drysuit acquisition process took an hour but resulted in a suit that fit well and the guys did a great job controlling them, certainly better than I did on my first 20 or 30 ascents in a suit that did not fit right--I was really pleased.

By the end of the day on Sunday the visibility in the shallow end by the attractions was the worst I had ever seen. It was REALLY blown out.

how was the weather that weekend. One of the reasons I didn't make it was the unapealing idea of spending my SIs in the rain.

How was the water temp on the shallow side?

Aaron- Sealife was there, and yes you could try their strobes with your camera. DUI is headed to Benoit, Il next weekend and to Lake Wazee, WI next weekend and I belive they will be at Mermet,IL in the fall. Maybe you will be able to make it to one of those. But if it is the Selife stuff you are interested in you might want to check with DUI, because I don't think Joe and Matt are at all of the rallies.

Thanks for the info. I am looking for an inexpensive strobe for my C5060 and wanted to try their digital strobe out. I heard it was an ok strobe but wanted to try it myself. But i had to get the work done on the boat. We're fishing this weekend and had to have it ready. My outdrive wasn't shifting properly and it is quite the task to tear it apart. Glad everyone had fun and maybe i can make the next event. Maybe i can make one of their other stops on thier tour

Ber- Faith quickly repaired the only suit that one of my students ripped. :D

Stef it was WONDERFUL, AMAZING, and SUPER to meet you and your "challanged" side kick ;) As always JB had a wonderful time although I did notice you fondling his packaging while we were playing cards ;) Maybe next time I will be able to convince you to switch to the dark side and spend the evening with him and Ginger ;) I thought somebody else was going to drive the trailer back! You didn't let Scott drive again did you? I mean with his weekend, I am not sure he should be allowed to walk, let alone drive with a trailer. :D

Jim- I think what I heard from Faith was that they estimate 280 divers demo'd suits. Many did mulitiple dives. Thursday night there was some decent storms, but really as far as the rest of the weekend went, it drizzled a couple of times, but never enough to make you seek cover. Funny thing was a couple of my students did the hotel thing in Findley.... and it poured there, but Gilboa itself didn't get hit. Vis on Friday was fantastic, but it got progressively worse on Sat and sun. Dock 2 was zero vis during the DUI demos. Around the plane the vis was about 2 feet by the end of the weekend.

Thanks for the summary Polly. It's amazing to see the impact of 300+ dives over 3 days. I can't even imagine 2' viz around the plane. You'd practically bump into it before you'd see it. Any idea how long it takes for it to settle out?
