While remote, the possibility exists where if you are wearing the light head on your wrist and giant stride in the cord can get caught up on a piece of gear and not allow for full extension/use of your arm if needed. It happened to me once, so when going off a boat my lighthead is clipped to a chest D-ring until I am ready to use it.

I see. It's a problem with a canister light. So if using a self-contained flashlight in a light sock it should be no problem as there is no cord.

I ended up clipping off my torch +lightsock and securing it with a bungee loop.

The whole unit was too loose on my hand for me to feel comfortable during entry. If I tightened it anymore the torch would be off center and pointing at an odd angle on my hand.

Dive went well and for the first time I had a spot light and two free hands :D

+1 clipped off and cord away. Then I stabilize on the surface or hold on the the mooring/drift line, unclip, turn on, wrap the cord a couple times around my arm and then proceed with the dive. I do the opposite on the way back
