I can see where that would be bothersome. The React displays time in surface mode only and the button must be pressed while submerged. Yes, the secondary display is only held for about 5 sec. Hmmmm.....

and a citizen dive watch.
But the react displays dive time in lower left "corner" - about the 7-8 position on the circular dial.

My daughter thought is was water temp. on our last dive and I assured her it was not 47-degrees it was 47 minutes. For safety stops I just note the time when I start and then I know when I'm through.

But I must admit I rely on my watch for most stuff during the dive except NDL.

I'll tell her to check that.

(My Vyper has the total dive time always displayed too, which is helpful. I also wear a dive watch, but she doesn't - currently. Yeah, I know, timing device. :))

She likes her computer on her console.... to each their own.

The display in lower left corner of main page is the depth.

Bottom time is on page 2, top center. Actual time is on page 3, lower right.

Arny, I bought the React as my first computer, and loved it while diving. I dive with a watch for total time and backup with the tables, so I don't have to worry about switching between screens to get time on, say, a safety stop as some people above mentioned. I put the React in a console with a compass and psi guage, but I may end up trying it on my wrist opposite the watch to reduce "bulk". Since the React allows Nitrox, you can exapnd your abilities without expanding your budget. I never felt like the React was robbing me of bottom time, although I have yet to take it below about 60 fsw. All in all, a good computer for the money (and one that will not confuse the heck out of you). Just remember, the computer DOES NOT replace your brain while diving!!
