Caves, as with women, if you can't always go into a pretty one, you sometimes settle for going into an ugly one. Sometimes you just need to get wet.
sometimes you need a slumpbuster

After like a month, wouldn't you expect it?It's getting slimy
It's getting slimy and off-topic around here.
So what if the camera doesn't work? Is it really necessary to dredge? Wouldn't an underwater metal detector be a less difficult and less silty? Can you set it to sense aluminum or steel tanks (whatever he was diving)?
The only reason to dredge would be if they could pinpoint that his body was in a specific location. If that was true... then they'd recovered him a month ago.
I'm not sure how a metal detector would do. If you can't get a person in there to search, then how are you going to get a person in there to search and move around a metal detector? You'd have to be right on top of him for it to be any use. It's not like a radio direction finder that points "go this way" .

Besides, somebody is going to whine enough to get it done.
They were dredging at Vortex to make the cave easier to travel, nothing to do with body recovery. I think an UW metal detector would be less of a waste of time than the camera/ROV thing.
Not so sure about that... once people realize the conditions inside, they may come to their senses.
