So, the Dive Rite 905 deal looks fine, but the funding for my suit won't be available until May or June . . . so that one's not for me. What I'm hearing, generally, is that folks advocate, if possible, some sort of compressed neoprene suit over a tri-lam or rubber for this kind of diving. How about seals? How about mobility differences between what seems to be a looser fit in tri-lams and a more form fitting cut for the neoprene? I realize that most of this is personal preference and experience, but I'd rather not figure out my preference under the ice.

cheers,

cheers,

They are all divable of course so a lot of it comes down to preference. They will feel different as squeeze starts to takes place. Neoprenes will exit the water heavier and wetter and need more time and favorable conditions to dry.

I certainly hope you plan to log a good number of dives in the suit and final configuration before the expedition.

For a price like that, I'd check to see if they can do a "layaway" plan for you until you get funding in May.

Several of us are looking for an excuse to buy that suit for that price :)

Doing our best. Getting dives and training in over the next year is our biggest concern at this point. Have the OW now. AOW after the holidays, NAUI Master and Scientific Diver in June (UCSC), and drysuit training sometime before the NAUI course. We're going to be adding to that schedule once we get a better idea from the NSF people what we need. All diving, all the time. Advice and anecdotes welcome . . . got a lot to learn between now and then. :penguin:

Cheers,
