I agree 100%. And your friends are correct about the ABC's and Caymans. More specifically, Bonaire and Little Cayman/Cayman Brac have by far the clearest waters and abundant wildlife underwater than anywhere else in the Caribbean.

But yes, more expensive.

Nah, not really. Saba has much better diving than both Bonaire and all 3 Cayman islands. Turks and Caicos used to be better as well before the recent storms. I love Bonaire and I go there at least once a year...but I find the diving far better in Saba. The reef is more varied and healthier with a greater amount of fish life. You can't beat Bonaire for the overall experience though. I love that island.

True, but I hate misrepresentation. Do try Cayman Brac and Bonaire sometime. Did my first diving at Cozumel in 1982. IMHO it has gotten overcrowded with too many cruise boats and high rise resorts. One of my old dive buddies said: Diving in the Caribbean is like sex, even the worst I had was good!

It's not misrepresentation...I found the diving in Belize to be exactly as Mark IV said. Brown and lifeless with little fish life. Sure you can find a good dive or two. Your picture above...the elbow at Turneffe is one of the most highly regarded sites in Belize. Nice picture...of the coral. I don't see a lot of fish. If you stay on the Caye's that's a 2 hour boat ride each way and costs a fortune. No thanks.

Nobody said that the entire reef is dead so I am not sure what the point of the picture is. I am sure that I could find a nice patch in Jamaica too, but that doesn't make the diving any good there

Funny what you say about Cozumel and getting too crowded...I stopped going to Belize for that very reason. The diving in Cozumel is far superior to anything in Belize, including Turneffe

Yea, I just hate diving off Belize. Visibility can only be 100 ft. or so, terrible. This pic is from Turneffe Atoll. Please don't dive here, save it for the rest of us![ I hate it, & that's why we're going back in April.ATTACH=full]444206[/ATTACH]

Looks horrendous. I will do you all a favour and stick to the tropical waters of the UK.....

Everywhere is a dump.

Everyone stop diving everywhere and cease using the ocean. I'll let you know when you should be back.

What a strange thread. Trolls maybe?

LOL, will you calm down already? :rofl3:
I clearly stated that it was only my humble opinion, (which another diver immediately concurred with, as did a majority of other people I've known that have dived there.)
And obviously, there can be better and worse conditions at different times and different locations.

Next thing ya know you're going to say "the Blue Hole isn't worth it."
