So, ive always used a big bucket and freshwater to clean my gear, and hang it up in my garage before bringing it inside. How about yall? how do other people wash and clean their gear after dives?

I dive freshwater only. Just rinse when gear has gotten something on it.

Why do that? Your gear should be used often that it won't dry!!

After a sea dive, small stuff (gopro, computer, mask, lamp, regulators) gets soaked in the shop's rinse buckets if available and then go into tupperware/buckets to soak a bit more at home, after some rinsing under the sink.
Wetsuit, fins and bcd soak under the shower for a bit, then hung to dry (I use a broom stick across the top of the shower stall and hangers). The BCD will get filled and emptied with sink water two or three times as well, to clean out the bladder.
The boots get filled with soapy water, rinsed, put to dry in the balcony, then if the smell is too bad I put in some talcum powder to get rid of it.

After a fresh water dive, just a quick rinse under the sink/shower. Except for the booties - those still get a soapy rinse, or they smell like death by the following weekend.

okay i have a huge question. How dry should the inside of the bladder be? I really really really dont want to mess this part up. thanks :)

Personally? I stop for a cave dive on my way back from the ocean.
If that isn't feasible, I go for a local dive when I get home.

Hose, faucet. Shower if travelling. Baby shampoo & fresh water inside BC. I never soak anything. I take everything apart first (reg off tank, dust cap on tight). Has worked for me since 2005. Same reg since day one bought used. Replaced BCD last year. Bladder still fine, rest of it getting tattered.

I soak everything in a big container after ocean dives and at the end of the year I do the same thing but with steramine dissolved into the water. I put some inside my wing and shake it around too.
