Just curious about the DIR gear configuration. I've seen pictures of standard DIR gear and how it should be configured on its own but my question is does anybody have pictures or links to what someone in a full DIR configuration would look like? For example I've seen what a typicall DIR necklace looks like but what does it look like when applied to a diver?

I should think that almost ALL of the "DIR" related sites would
have some sort of pictures.

Failing that perhaps "Patrick" at NorthEastDIR can post
a pic on his website.

Or perhaps Uncle Pug has a good photo of himself in his gear?

is to order a copy of "Doing it Right, The Fundamentals of Better Diving" by Jarrod Jablonski, CEO of Halcyon and President of GUE. It's an excellent little book on the hows and whys. Available from GUE.

Questions for DIR reasoning.
As I learn new things in life I have always been one to ask why.
Remeber because I ask why doesn't mean that I disagree it just means that I want to know why.

Spring straps on fins - to prevent breakage. seems you could just replace them. why springs? in 30 years of diving I have never broken a fin strap.

Rubber fins - what's the difference

How about hoses - I don't use any hose protectors so that I can visualy see my hoses, If one starts to deteriate i replace it. what is your thinking.

What about mask strap, I cary a spare, and replace my strap at any sign of wear. what is the DIR suggestion

Something about neopreme drysuits - I just switched from a Trilaminate to 7 mil full neopreme. all of my ocean diving is in water ranging from 40 to 44 degrees for several hours. not to mention ice diving but they are usualy short dives. I also use argon is that ok

Why do we not like bungy straps on wings - snaging? it seems to me that if my wings were flapping around in the breeze they would be even more prone to snagging. I have been in some pretty tight spots in wrecks and haven't had a problem.

These are the areas I would like to know more about. So far everything I have heard from DIR makes total since to me, and maybe when I know why this will too?!

I only know one of those... but it is...

Spring Straps are used because they are far less likely to get tangled in a line when using reels (such as Cavern/Cave diving or Wreck penetration using a reel)
