heading to belieze in a month and i recently purchased all my own gear and the wife has her own too. When traveling abroad do you insure your gear? I plan on carrying the regs and computers in a seperate carry on bag as to avoid the monkey baggage handlers. As for the rest of the gear both me and wife have seperate gear bags w/ wetsuit, bc, fins mask and snokel ect. it makes it a little less likely both our gear would get lost or stolen but i was curious how much the airline is actually liable for.

There are several kinds of insurance as I see it.

You home policy MAY or may NOT take care of some loss. Need to talk to agent.

As far as gear goes....I now use DEPP. I used to use the one DAN pushes but they were such a pain in the butt in getting gear registered with them and adding new gear. With DEPP you can use an Exel spreedsheet...word doc....call and talk to lady...its easy.

Then there is YOU insurance. I would not recommend a trip without having DAN personal diver insurance. Pay for one hyper chamber ride and you will be in debt for a while....and they have so many other services. Not to mention it wont break the bank.
