consider putting a second set of slots at the shoulders to allow it to use a single piece of webbing which will make it much easier for harnesses. The extra wide triglides needed to secure the shoulders are not terribly easy to come by.

How, exactly would you lay out the extra slots? I can't picture it. And why extra wide tri-glides? I just use standard 2" tri-glides for standard 2" webbing. How do you string yours?
As far as Bryan goes, as James said, a courtesy. As you know, Luis', Herman's and Bryan's efforts have done a lot keep double hose diving afloat for many years. The proposed backplate seems to be an exact duplicate of Luis' design. If Bryan decides to go back into production he will be competing against his own product.

Also, if you haven't tried it, I run continuous webbing on a VDH plate.... it narrows how the harness crosses, helping me keep it as low on my back as I want it.

I appreciate the input.
I omitted the slot in the top harness for fear of it being too weak. Looking at the drawing, there is not a lot of meat there. Using 2 slots with a standard triglide as a keeper behind the the slots may mitigate this. I might be over reacting though. Worst case, I can make the tri glides too.
Thanks for the tall folks for chiming in...great input. I'm 5'8" and biased.
I might ditch the extra set of tank band slots depending how it works out. The roll control plate I mentioned will come in to play here.
Slot on the bottom for wing mount and slight bend on the bottom corners is easy enough

As far as the other comments...please read my OP again.
Pretty hard to make an exact copy if I never held, let alone seen one in the wild. I do all my own design and CAD work for anything I make. The only function NOT done in my shop is laser cutting.

I do not expect a 'demand' for these, but envision them being made in limited runs.

@SubseaSports - LMK if/when you are running them (especially if you accomodate "talls"). I'm curious the length you have chosen? Other question is if you would consider a stainless steel or a bit thicker aluminum plate? I dive my VDH plate periodically with doubles, and the aluminum does flex more than I prefer....

I would think that a second set of slots parallel to the angled slots would allow the webbing to bend across the back of the plate the same way they do in a normal backplate. May have to change the angle as you would want the top of the lower slot slightly below the bottom of the cutout

If you put a low profile d-ring on the slider on the back side to prevent pull-out you have no issues with the rigging as separate straps, and don't need the second slot for a continuous web strap.... I agree that the "fat" sliders seem to have evaporated... Thought I had gotten them from Piranha or NESS, but might have been elsewhere or they are NLA.... There are other options I'm sure I could come up with to solve that....

I added lower slots to the one you got from me.

I would find it more interesting in stainless, longer for taller helps too. In my opinion a well made flat plate, not necessarily for DH is a nice travel plate for warm water diving, put all of your gear in a 20 liter dry bag and clamp it down with the tank bands and go.

Doesn't that interfere with the cutout for the cans?

Yes, and I'll be eternally grateful for the gift.
