Looking at a Gates (Now Hunter) ProAm 1050. Anybody have any experience with this drysuit? If so what are you thaughts?

Thanks!
Pete

I prefer to dive the rubber suits and Gates makes a great one.

Very durable, not to expensive, easy to repair and field repair.

I have a brand new 1050 sitting in the shop, took it in on trade for a Viking.
The fabric "rating" says the 1050 fabric is heavier than the Viking 1000, though a hands on squeeze test says the Viking feels heavier & more durable. The 1050 fabric is just a hair more flexable.
As far as design goes, they pretty much copied Viking so they have to be OK.;)
US Viking distributor is in NH, by the way.

I kow I stopped by the distributers office to see what they had. I was actually looking at the x-treme but I found that it did not fit.

It was funny because they are not used to customers. but they were very helpful.

I liked mine just as much as my first viking.

Except... they do not provide as much flexibility as a trilam shell suit or crushed/compressed neo suit.

That said, a rubber suit can't be beat for contaminated water.
