Just returned from a trip to Komodo and flew Garuda from Bali to Labuan Bajo. They never weighed the carry-on luggage---mine was to big for the small overhead bins on the ATR so they gate checked it when we got on the plane and gave the bag back to us as soon as we got off. I had a computer bag also that went into the overhead bin. Most people had pretty large backpacks that they managed to stuff in the overheads.
