SOLVED

Good news. I was on a call with Martin from Garmin Support. He listened to my issue and my various tests. He then suggested a power reset (I didn't see this in the manual).

To power reset, press and continue to hold the light/start button (the top left button). After a few seconds, you will see the controls menu (circle of options). Don't let go - continue to hold down the light button. Eventually you will see the Release Power Key For Assistance. Don't let go - continue to hold. Wait a bit and then the screen goes dark or blank. You have now done the power reset. Wait a few seconds and then press the Light button again to start the watch.

After the power restart, both watches and T2s are working as before.

Thanks all for your help and advice.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I think two points worth clarifying regarding this solution.

1. After this power reset, record of previous dives is still there, and taken into account in the next dive?

2. Since you realize the issue only when you start the dive, can this reset be done in water, at the very start of the dive?

Thanks

Good questions

After many power resets, my data (e.g., dive logs) are still intact. Garmin Support said that the reset does not destroy data.

I will try doing a power reset in the pool today. :)

Good news. I was able to perform a power reset when I was in a dive. The watch warned that my dive would end. After continuing to hold down the light button (top left), I got to a screen that said that an alert (??) would go out if I release the button (which I didn't) and then after a while, the screen went dark (indicating the watch is in the power reset). I waited a few seconds, pressed the light button and got back the starting blue triangle.

So yes, you can execute a power reset on a dive.
