:shakehead: If you really want to go all the way, you can knock off the cash at the local girl scout cookie stand :shakehead:

Just make sure you don't go back the next day and talk to a news reporter about it!!! :no

Well thanks everyone for the help. And thanks icestac for the idea of knocking of a girl scout cookie stand. The only question now is the venture or the travel wing?

I think the Travel wing only works with the Transpac (which doesn't have a hard backplate).

The Venture is the smallest one in the Dive Rite line that can be used with hard backplates (I think).

Have you considered Oxycheq? I only ask because I absolutely love my Oxycheq wing! If you're looking for a smaller wing, the Mach V Signature Series has an 18lb wing...

From what I understand, the size of wing you need is dependent on the exposure protection, size of tank, and amount of lead you need to carry. If you use a drysuit or a thick wetsuit (requires more lead), then you'll need a bigger lift capacity. Same thing, if you use large, steel tanks.

Disclaimer: I'm really new at this. Take all my advice with a grain of salt....

If you're going to go with Dive Rite, the Venture is what you want.

I would also consider Deep Sea Supply, either the Torus 26 or LCD 30.

The reason I have only mentioned the dive rite systems is because that's what my LDS sells. I am big into supporting the LDS istead of online stores. They just started to sell the BP/W systems because of the SSI extend reach program that just came out. I will ask why they only sell dive rite and see what I come up with. They also only sell oceanic bcds and regulators and automic aquatics regulators. I think I asked them why before but I forgot what they said.

Thanks Again

I would strongly second the OxyCheq wings. They are AWESOME! the wife and I have two Mach V Signature Series for open water and travel. We love them.

For doubles, I still have my Dive Rite classic which is nice, but I have started diving the OxyCheq Vertex Signature Series and like it more. However, I don't really dive doubles anymore so they are both collecting dust.

Chances are the real answer is because they can't afford to carry more than those lines. Manufacturers require a minimum initial purchase and then a minimum periodic purchase thereafter. Your LDS may be barely getting by with the lines they carry. Bringing a new line into the store would only cause them to lose other lines. I understand wanting to support your LDS, but if they don't carry what you want, is it really worth it to you? I buy from my LDS all the time. However, if they don't have and can't get something I want, I go elsewhere. And believe me, I'd rather buy it from my LDS because you can't find better prices anywhere else!

There's nothing wrong with the Dive Rite stuff... or any of the other brands mentioned here.

If you have a good shop, you'll be able to get the Dive Rite stuff repaired locally, or at the very least have them handle shipping/repair work under warranty through the parent company.

If your LDS is the one on the Mill Pond, then I must agree.
