Christi, thanks very much for that link. It was enlightening to hear about how folks on the otherside are getting screwed but the tour operators as well. I'm still using Funjet for this trip, but never again. For an air-only vacation booked well in advance, they aren't a whole lot cheaper than the scheduled airlines.

Christi:
I apologize...I meant to post this under the Funjet cancelling all flights thread.

I've moved it...

Finally got an email from Funjet here it is..

Thank you for your email comments to Funjet Vacations and we apologize for the delay with this response.

I have addressed each one of your issues and responded to them below.

I have recently heard of Funjet's decision to no longer fly its charter flights in to Cozumel due to the damage to the southern hotel district.

Please remember that Funjet Vacations charters these airlines and if the carrier decides that they will not fly to a certain destination, then Funjet Vacations must adhere to the airline policies. Funjet Vacations is doing everything that they can do to stop any trip interruptions to our customers.
Evidence of this is in the decision that Funjet Vacations made to offer to charter customers to Cancun Mexico and provide ferry transfers to the destination of Cozumel at no additional cost to our clients.

I've checked with a Ryan Air F/O and he said it was not Ryan Air's idea.

I rescheduled my vacation due to Emily to Mid-September which was not a problem. Now I hear that I wont be able to get there unless I book airfare that costs twice as much with a schduled airline.

If your new travel dates where within the charters schedule Funjet Vacations would have some control but, scheduled airlines assign their own fares and Funjet Vacations has no control over the scheduled airlines fares. Funjet Vacations can discount some scheduled airlines pricing, which is called a bulk fare but the cost is still higher then the charter fares.

I was also told that it could be 4-6 weeks for a refund for the airfare I already paid for.

The normal time frame for the refund process is three weeks but due to the overwhelming request forwarded to the Funjet Vacations accounting department the refund process is taking longer then usual. If this is causing you financial hardship, please contact Funjet Vacations customer support team @ 1 800 558 3060 to discuss this matter.

Moodiejeff:
It's not just Funjet... United has cancelled all their flights (until November) as well.

Hmm, I'm flying Denver to Cancun on United on August 31 and that flight is still on. I was not aware of United flights into Cozumel. (At least not from Denver.) Which routes are you referring to?

They used to fly direct from Chicago on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays. Funjet used to charter seats from them.

Oh well, it won't stop me, there are plenty of other options from here... none of the are direct flights though. At least they go straight to Coz.

I used to work for a Major airline, and was at the airport to fly up to work one morning, and I was told the flight had been cancelled due to maintenance issues. Being as I had clearance to do so, I went down and spoke to Maintenance about the breakdown, and they said there was not a thing wrong with the aircraft from a maintenance standpoint, They told me the flight was cancelled due to the low number of passengers flying on that flight. The complany didn't want to admit that, so they instead blaimed it on maintenance! Those guys were really P.O'd when they found out what I had been told up stairs. Point is, airlines WILL lie to you every chance they get if they stand to gain something from it. Sorry to hear about all the FJ problems.. Those are the typical things that cause airlines to go out of business.

What a crock! Mark Travel Corp. made this decision...not the airlines!

Petition signed! Thanks!
