With your menagerie, wouldn’t it cost a lot more to fly?

I’m still planning on driving to FL for a week of cave diving at Christmas. Gas prices are running about $5.50 right now in the Chicago area. My Scuba Sherpa (Ford Escape) gets about 27 mpg even loaded down with gear.

Absolutley would cost more to fly.. 3500-4000 was driving miles round trip. About $1000 in fuel for the van.
