Ft. Wetherill weather??

If I want to check the weather at Wetherill, should I be looking at the forecast for RI Sound or Naragansett Bay?

Narragansett Bay says seas 1-2 feet and Rhode Island Sound says seas 4-7 feet.

Big difference, IMO!!


Thoughts, and is anyone planning to be there on Saturday??

I usually use the RI Sound forecast but I look at the wind speed and direction more than wave height.

Wetherill is sheltered from the north, east and west so it is diveable even with some pretty strong winds from those directions. However, it is very exposed to strong winds between SW and S where the winds are blowing the waves out of the sound and up into the coves. So anytime you see SW or S winds combined with a sustained strong wind (say 15 kts or higher), Wetherill starts getting sketchy.

For Saturday the forecast is 15-20 gusting to 25 knots from the SW and that doesn't bode well for Wetherill.

Well, I might swing by and see how it looks since it is pretty close for me... after all NE weather forecasts are notoriously flakey... but I sure wouldn't drive any distance to go there this Saturday.
