I feel seajays excitement and enthusiam towards a BP/wing. I originally started diving when i was 16.I took about a 12 year break and started diving again.I have been diving steady for the last 3 years.

I have been through 3 bc's since i originally started diving years back.My original bc was a jacket style. When i started diving again i purchased a knighthawk and after joining the board i finally converted to a bp.Of all 3 bc's my opinion is the bp towers above them all.

Im sure a jacket style bc has its place but i would never waste my money on another one.The knighthawk is a great bc but didnt care for all of the exhaust dumps and air 2.

My bp/wing is perfect for me.It has a place for everything such as my cannister, back up lights and surface marker.I have a channel weight in the center so it reduces my weightbelt to 6lbs.Plus the weight is centered over my back and not all on my waist helping trim dramatically. With the webbing correctly adjusted you dont even notice it in the water.By far it is the best bc i have ever used but is the most debated.I still get funny looks from divers who have never seen one and if that isn,t bad enough try explaining a 7ft hose. I have noticed they are getting more common around the monterey area though.

Anyone else wondering if Leadweight's real first name might not be Jarrod? He certainly elicits a lot of glowing BP testimonials....

I wish. JJ certainly has a more interesting life than I do. I bet his stake in Halcyon is worth a pretty penny by now. I suppose that I could wear a backplate if someone offered to put me through the GUE courses. I have a good friend who is a cave diver and he is usually looking for a buddy. Besides, if I was trimix certified I could talk like a duck:)

Seajay,
You've gone and got the kids all stirred up. They're fussing about who has the biggest, loudest, fastest, badest, best toy. Maybe UP will organize a BP Wings versus Poodle Jacket Smack Down.

Walter really wrote a great little educational input to all's benefit. Take it as a gift and go be better divers.
Be Safe,

Actually, I have been thinking of getting a hood as it would be a tad warmer and more macho.

You really should do that.

Larry, one day you too will have nothing better to do than spend all day on 'net boards, telling everyone how good you are.
Until then, shutup and get back to your real world life......;)

Aquamaniac,

You're spot on. I've been following this thread out of sheer boredom. Maybe I'll go floss the teeth of my drysuuit zipper.
Gotta be better than reading an arguement on whether it's cool to wear gloves or not. Like the TV commercial says "Don't be one of those guys".

Behave, you hear?
Adios,
Larry

I have sat back and read this thread for several days now, first let me say what a bunch of BS!!!
The man gave his opinion from what ( He seen ) and you all act like a bunch of ravens jumping on dead pray!!
First he doesn’t deserve this at all second this was his opinion and observation.
I have dove many Jacket BC’s in my lifetime and enjoyed most of them.
This summer I am going to try a back-inflated WIngs/back plate.
And try the DIR-F class if i can get my act together and get some money for equipment.
Each person has his own style and equipment they are comfortable with this doesn’t mean that there equipment is wrong just because you or I or someone else things so, if there equipment is safe, comfortable, operating ect then by all means its their equipment let them be.
There is no correct answerer on the debate about Back inflated or Jacket BC is will never be ended its all matter of personal choice .

You have a really bad case of the nasties WW.

You're doing just as much name calling as everyone else...

You seem to be quite proud of the fact that you wrote a couple of books. He wrote more than you did, tisk tisk.

You can dive with your silly little BP that makes you look like a fugitive from a B&D convention...

Your so tough, go dive Iraq.

Personally, this thread seems to have outlived its usefulness...
