I use this GoPro mount for my AKASO on the back of my non dominant hand. It has a swivel base, so it can be turned to whatever advantageous angle you want and the mount allows for the camera to angle up and down. Straps are quite secure and I can still us the hand normally while wearing it. Haven’t done a lot of diving so far, but it seems to work quite well. Found it on Amazon.

Until it breaks or comes loose. It'd be safer to include some sort of tether. Do you pass it to the captain before boarding?

No. My hands are free, so I just pass my fins and climb aboard. Has some pretty solid Velcro, so I never thought of a tether. Maybe not a bad idea, now that you say that. In case the Velcro fails.

I met this Chilean woman in Cozumel in 2016 before my current marriage and we were hanging out for a few days, diving together and smoking weed and I somehow lost her gopro in the trunk of a rental car we took around the island. If anyone knows the person who stole it, I'd gladly buy the SD card back if the footage is still intact.
you might want to check pornhub for those videos :p

Once again, I advise owners of UW cameras to take a photo of a card or a computer screen with "THIS CAMERA BELONGS TO" information with email address and/or phone number, and to place it as the first image on the card. This worked a few years ago to get my wife's camera and strobe returned to her that had gotten away from her out on the reef. Another diver found them a couple of days later and shipped them back to her.

I did (and still do) exactly this but the person who took mine apparently couldn't be bothered to at least let me have the SD back (which had some amazing splendids, eagle rays and shark footage). Here's my information in the ultra-slim chance this is my GP:

A list of exactly what was lost:

1 - GoPro 9 Serial Number C3441325260657
1 - GoPro dive housing
1 - Black coil lanyard
1 - 32gb memory card
1 - Beneath The Surface boomerang tray
2 - Big Blue lights VTL3500P
2 - 32650-G rechargeable lithium ion batteries
2 - double screw/clips for the ball arms

Thanks regardless!

The measures we talk about in here depend on honest people who will use the information to get your camera back to you. Obviously, in the case of a theft or “finders keepers” mentality, such things aren’t effective.

This is similar to what I use, my gopro on the back of my hand. But I keep it on my dominant hand and I fold it down when I'm not using it. Been doing this for years and hundreds of dives with no problems. Keeps the camera secure, ready to use, and my hands free. I don't have to hand it up because I can easily climb a ladder with the gopro on the back of my hand.
