I drove through the area last year and wanted to dive Follys cove this year but.. Wheres The parking?? I saw the couple spots are for 'residents' so where do us out of towners park?

Also I saw a lot of dive flags at a spot between an area you can drive out on ( raised about 30' above sea level) and the main area of Rockport ( sorry dont know the name of this spot). Is it a good area to site see? and again, where would parking be?

Thanks

bwahahaha-one of the dark sides of Cape Ann diving. We used to dump gear and all people but one, who drove down the road a distance where there was ok on-street parking, then hopped on the bike brought along for this purpose to get back to Folly...

I think maybe you're talking about between Granite pier (the big one) and Bearskin Neck (a touristy shopping area.) There's on street parking downtown that you can usually find a place to park and play tourist, may have to walk a bit. As far as an entry I don't know, I've only dove that from a friends boat. I remember pretty good lobstering (said friend with boat only went where he could get bugs) but that was pretty long ago.

Thanks for the info..

Now the next question, How's the vis in those areas right now with all the rain and flooding? I was thinking of trying to get out there this weekend or next but I dont know if with the rains and floods it would be worth it.

John, I would be very surprised if the conditions are not trashed till next week. Not only the gazzilions of gallons of muckey water flowing into the ocean, this was also a very serious ocean storm and the seas have been storming for more than a week.

On the other hand, who knows.

I expect any shore dive this weekend will require you to bring a dog and a white cane. I'm hoping that offshore is a little better. (Since I've already committed myself and Ishouldknowbetter to charters on both Sat and Sun.)
