Hi, guys. Could some of you locals from Florida help me out?

I'm looking for a holiday destination in July where I can get in a few dives. The main purpose of the holiday is sight-seeing rather than diving, though.

Anyhow, I read in various travel books that at that time of year Florida is hot and humid with grey skies and that there are plagues of mosquitoes. IS this true?! I was thinking about maybe flying to Miami, taking in the Keys, Everglades and maybe a trip to Grand Cayman, too. But if it's going to be these conditions, maybe I'll think about somewhere else for July. I was originally thinking about the Seychelles but I'm having difficulty with flights and hotels.

What I would ideally like is somewhere warm, blue skies, calm, clear ocean, non-stop flight from UK with things to do and see beside diving. But great diving, too!

It's a pretty good problem to have, I guess!!!

Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes it will be hot and there is alot of humidity , but no grey skies, and maybe a few misquitos.

Right now we are having a heat wave for this time of year, the temps are in the mid 90F. In July the temps are in the 90's posssibly reaching 100. The skies are rarely grey. July is probably one of the busiest tourist seasons in Florida. The misquitos can be a problem but usually more so in wet areas like near bodies of fresh water like swamps, springs, etc. Just buy some Off Skintastic when you get here. It works great and you won't have any bug problems.

There is tons of diving to be done in the miami and keys areas, but I don't know much about sigh seing stuff down there, maybe someone closer to that area can help you out there.

I say go ahead and make the trip.
