The Juliet is "engine powered." It only sails when it wants to...:)
Truth. And crossings are made at night. Typically not dive time.

Glad to see a review; on Scuba Board the Juliet is quite reputable but I don't see as many reviews of it as I'd expect. How many dives were offered your week?

Richard.

The plan is to do up to 4 dives per day. However, if clearing customs is slow on the first day, you might only get three in on that day. We also had one rough day from a marine conditions standpoint and had to beat it back north to get into the lee side of some islands and only got 3 dives that day too.

True. They used the sails on several days we were on the boat. Don't really know if that was to keep the guests happy or if it was really functional (save on fuel). It gets around just fine without the sails. Its still cool to live on a sailboat for a week

.........how much potential dive time is used in making the crossing there and back again at sailing speeds vs an engine powered vessel?

We left at 2:30 Saturday afternoon and were in the Bahamas by 10:00 that night. No dive time is sacrificed in the crossing. Only time clearing customs Sunday AM, which may be super quick or a little slow.

I've also dove on Ultimate Getaway and there is nothing wrong with that boat on a photography trip. You don't have the same privacy since its barracks style sleeping, but the diving in the Tortugas is really nice. Did the Spree once too, but that owner freaking sold the boat. :(
