I'm looking at selling my Oceanic regs for something with standard fittings, considering the idea anyway..I don't like the idea of spending $80 for a 7' hose, or having an industrial amount of adapters to fit a standard hose to the reg. The regs work great, but I'd like more utility. Thanks for all the replies and ideas though!

I think the adopter is like 8 dollars. There was a post about the atomic with the same issue with the miflex. All the guy did was order a jamb nut form scubatoys, and then install the miflex on the atomic without the swivel. No tech need, just 8 bucks in parts. Here is the link, hope it helps.

My point is that, before anyone travels with a Delta 4 second stage, they should realize a field repair to change out the hose is going to cause problems. The hose itself uses a nonstandard fitting, the change out to a different hose or to the fitting that would let you use a standard hose can only be done by an Oceanic reg tech or at the risk of voiding your warranty, and the part to convert to a standard hose fitting may not be widely available when and where you need it.

This is the worst design decision since the days when Apeks decided to have one non-standard 1/2" LP port on most of their first stages. Its the same problem, you can't swap out hoses in a pinch with what's commonly available. Fortunately, Apeks eventually saw the error of their ways.

Cool -- but unnecessary -- engineering features should never trump ease of use features. At a minimum I think Oceanic ought to ship the converter fitting with each one of these second stages. Failing that, Delta 4 owners who travel with their regs should do what Apeks owners used to have to do: bring a backup hose with the non-standard fitting.
