Hello,

:bounce:

We will fly to Hurghada int beginning after two weeks. We are going to join a liveabroad to North area.

What about these shark attacks in Red Sea?... Sorry I haven't read much of these kind of articles before...
This is my first time in this site.
And I am quite novice in diving...

I read about accident happened in Sharm at 14Feb, 2004. But It would be nice to read real information for example people diving there this winter time.

We are very happy to get there and rest, dive and see pyramids in Cairo... still little bit affraid of this shark situation in Red Sea.

Thank you for your information.

Well I wouldn't let the sharks put you off. I was snorkelling alone the night night before the attack, on the reef next door to Coral Bay, taking pictures of Lionfish. I didn't see any sharks during the weeks diving on any of the reefs either.

It's still pretty cold in the evenings, so take a few jumpers! I used a 5mm full wetsuit all week (when snorkelling too - bit chilly without anything) and I was warm enough, a few instructors were even wearing drysuits!). The wind was fairly variable too, hardly any one day and then blowing hard the next, so some days ithe sea was quite rough. The worst bit was getting out of the wet dive gear on the boat in a chilly wind!

You have a great time though

I wouldn't worry about the sharks - first of all it was probably the first time for many, many years that a shark attaked somebody. Second of all - you will be really lucky if you see any of them!!!! Especially in Notrh.
So as chippy wrote - take couple of jumpers and enjoy the place - you would really love it!!!!!!!!

You've got to find them first! We dove Shark and Yolanda reefs too many times hoping to see some - nope, none.

And to echo what others have said - i was quite cold in my 5mm at the end of our 10 days trip.

And weren't they simply STUNNING!

Yolanda was my favourite dive there, just in the shear number of different types of fauna in one place, not to mention the beautiful reef & corals.

Thanks for your information... I really like to see the shark, hopely I'll succeed! I will take jumpers with me. Actually, I have been used to quite cold scuba conditions here in Finland. Water is warm, that's enough!

This is very nice site. I found this from goolge when I search some "shark attack" words.

Have a nice dives for all!

Well, the latest news from Hurghada:
temperature (today at 7 am Egiptian time) - 19centigrades
for today - max temp - 29
for the night - 21
water temp - 21 - 22 centigrades
visibility - 15 meters
wind - 14km/h

Ufff - these are the data from my friends who work in Hurghada. The weather forecast says - the warmth is coming back!!!!

Like people said...don´t worry about shark attacks...
A 5mm is quite enough for me (living in sweden I think we´re used to the same temps)
Went there October last year...the northern wrecks are really nice, specially Thistlegorm. I´m sure you´ll enjoy yourself, we even saw dolphins while on our checkout dive...
I´m propably going back there in April...

from reading this thread it sounds that attacks took place in hurghada whereas all I can find out online says that the attacks only took place in sharm el sheikh can someone clarify?
