I, too, am a brand new diver. I had the "luck" of doing my open water certs in a frwsh water quarry. I must say that the vis at Lake Rawlings Va is better than most (at least that is what I am told). I also am really struggling with proper weighting, but, like you I am working on it vigilently. We will both get there. If you ever find yourself near Lake Rawlings Va, Dutch Springs Pa, or the Chesapeake Bay Maryland, drop me a line. I know some excellent DM's and instructors and I'd be happy to dive with ya. (oh, and I am trying to talk the wife into a dive trip to Belize)

halocline, it could have been, I'm not sure. :) The guys I was with were definitely great though!
